Welcome New ISSS Staff

As part of an effort to improve the admissions and recruiting functions associated with international undergraduate students, International & Border Programs is happy to welcome the following new staff to the office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS):

 

Michael Schmelzle

Michael will serve as our new ISSS Director.  He is an active professional in the field and comes to us from Marshall University in Huntington West Virginia. He has been the ISSS director at Marshall since 2011, and before that was the coordinator of international student scholar services at Illinois State University. Prior to that he was at the University of Illinois Champaign Urbana for four years as the assistant director of ISSS. Before that, he was at Trinity College in Hartford Connecticut, Yale University in New Haven Connecticut, and an English instructor in Germany in the early 1990s. Prior to that, he worked for the United States Army in Berlin.  He has a Masters degree from Yale University, and a bachelor’s degree from Rice University.

 

Corine Huante

Corine will serve as our new International Transcript Evaluator.  She has worked in educational administration for the past seven years and comes to us from the University of Texas at El Paso where she has served as an enrollment counselor and recruiter for their UTEP Connect online programs. Before that, she worked at NMSU has the administrative assistant in the registrars office. She has a bachelors degree in kinesiology from UTEP.

 

Trisha Montalvo

Trisha comes to us from NMSU’s admissions office where she already works as the university’s international student application processor.  This is the same function she will serve in NMSU’s ISSS office.

 

We welcome each of them and look forward to accomplishing great things in the months ahead.
